Thermal Blinds

If you cant find thermal blinds for your van try making your own. First buy a roll of bubble foil insulation. I got a 10 meter roll on ebay for £21.50

Pick a stretch material and colour you want and again ebay

Aldi was handy for the eyelet punch but they are just a couple of quid on ebay as is a bag of 100 eyelets. These are 10mm

You also want a bag of suckers. I got two as my screen is six foot wide so wanted to put 8 on plus i made extra blinds for the back

So. Measure your screen from the inside and add a couple of inches for an overlap if needed. Cut your bubble foil and material to size. As i had 10 meters of foil i folded it over for double thickness.

Used spray carpet glue to stick material to bubble foil

I was going to stitch edging material on but i have plenty gaffa tape kicking about and that sticks like shite to a blanket anyway so it should not fall off

Work out where you need/want your eyelets. You dont want to go to close to the edge or over any glass trim dividers if you have a quarter glass.

Pop in the suckers the correct way round

And how they look from the inside. The back was easy as the glass is almost flush with the door frames so they sit snug

And how it looks from the outside

Now you have the hang of it make the rest. When making the windscreen one hang off putting on the gaffa tape as you may need to cut corner angles away to fit round the curve also a slit of you still have a rear view mirror.

Further back

And how it looks from the outside. As you can see i have some fine tuning to make on the fitting or trimming as i have a slight sag but i think i made these for around £65. OK you can get universal ones for around that but you wont get a convoy set and rear ones. I also have plenty foil and material left over if i wanted to do my side windows. I shall see later if i will need them but the van is bloody warm even on a rainy day like you can see.
